Kessler, Hoppel go 1-2 in record-setting USOT 800m
Bryce Hoppel won the 800m at the US Olympic Trials in a new lifetime best and USOT record of 1:42.77, with Hobbs Kessler coming second in 1:43.64, also a lifetime best. The result qualifies Hoppel for his second Olympic Games and makes Kessler the first American man to qualify for both the 800m and 1500m at the same Olympic Games since Rick Wolhuter in 1976.
