Noah Lyles entered the IAAF World Championships in Doha, Qatar and the heaviest favorite to win gold and did not disappoint. Holding off challenges from Olympic silver medalist Andre De Grasse, Lyles won his first world title comfortably in 19.83 to De Grasses 19.95. With the win, Lyles became the first American man since 2007 to win world championships gold over 200m.
Four days later, Lyles anchored Team USA to gold in the 4x100m relay, in a new American record of 37.10. The time also stands as the third-fastest in world history.
